Spring migration is in full swing!

Birds all around the world have started their very long or for some birds very short trip to their summer breeding grounds. for most birders this is the most exciting time of year, the season they have been waiting for all winter to arrive. This year it has arrived in full force here in Maine with A Protonotary warbler being spotted in Portland and a Yellow-throated warbler arriving in Brunswick weeks earlier than expected. I was lucky enough to be able to go see the Yellow-throated warbler when it showed up in Brunswick, sadly was not able to see the Prothonotary warbler. some of the other birds I have been excited to see back so far this spring are the Yellow warbler, the Northern Parula and the Eastern Towhee. A reminder that big day is on may 9th this year, this is a day where people all around the world try and count as many birds as they possibly can in one day, this leads to very large amounts of data on where the birds are at this point in the year witch can help to protect birds migratory routes.
