The Anahuac NWR is one of my all time favorite birding locations. the refuge is located in southern Texas and is said to be one of the best birding locations in the lower 48. I went there on my early 2019 trip. It was not the birds I saw there that was so exiting (although there were some cool ones), but more of how many there were and how diverse they were. At one point we counted over 100 coots in one small pond and then right across the little road we saw a Northern Parula. That is just one example of how awesome the Anahuac is and if you are passing through Southern Texas any time soon I would definitely recommend taking a visit at this amazing NWR.
I have added some pictures below. The one of the Parula is not the best but I thought I would include it because I talked about him earlier
